Faxing a formal notice before a consumer arbitration filing

The strongest arbitration file is one that proves you notified the seller in writing first. A fax transmission report is far cheaper than a notarized notice and far more provable than an email.

  1. 1
Summarize your claim on one page
What you bought, what went wrong, what you request (refund / exchange / repair), and a deadline: "within 7 days".
  2. 2
Fax it to the seller’s head office
Find the fax number in the contract or the trade registry. Keep the transmission report.
  3. 3
    File when the deadline passes
If nothing happens, file with the arbitration board online — attach the letter, the fax report and the invoice.
