Faxing documents to social security

Most social security transactions moved online; yet service record objections, overpayment refunds and various corrections still run on paper letters. The way to get registered without visiting the provincial office: fax plus a phone confirmation.

  1. 1
    Identify the right unit
Pension, registration and premium objections sit in different services. Call the provincial office to learn which service — and which fax — your request should go to.
  2. 2
    Include your ID numbers
Without your national ID and registration number, documents cannot be matched. State the request type clearly in the subject line.
  3. 3
    Number the attachment pages
Mark attachments as "Att-1 (2 pages)" — it is the only way to detect a lost page in transmission.
  4. 4
    Confirm registration
Call the records unit after sending and get a registry number. Processing starts from the registration date.
Provincial office fax numbers are published on the institution’s official contact pages; always verify before sending.
